RALEIGH, NC - William Peace University baseball received 8 USA South All-Conference selections following their impressive year which saw them finish as the #2 seed in the East Division. In addition, Tyshawn Barrett was named the USA South Baseball Player of the Year.
Tyshawn Barrett - Barrett, a senior first baseman from Fort Greenville, North Carolina becomes the first Pacer in the program's short history to earn a League individual "of the Year" honor in the sport of baseball. He leads the Conference in nearly every offensive category including batting average (.418), slugging percentage (.716), runs scored (51), hits (59), home runs (10), RBI (46) and total bases (101), as well as stolen bases (24). Additionally, he amassed a .506 on-base percentage which ranks second in the Conference. In USA South games-only, Barrett had the League's best on-base percentage to go along with the most runs scored, home runs, RBI, total bases and stolen bases. For his efforts, he earns First Team All-Conference and First Team East Division accolades for the first time in his career. Finally, he was named USA South Player of the Week twice this spring.
Nathan Holt - The senior from Sanford, NC, was named First Team All-Conference and First Team East Division for OF. Holt tallied 103 putouts on the season with a .990 fielding percentage. He was also fourth in the USA South for stolen bases (19), recording a .304 batting average.
Hunter Ward - The sophomore from Clayton, NC, was named Second Team East Division for 2B. Ward tallied 52 putouts in the season, also notching a .331 batting average and 35 RBIs.
Tyler Vaughn - The senior from Dunn, NC, was named Second Team East Division for 3B. Vaughn tallied 5 home runs and 29 RBIs on the year, putting up a .564 slugging percentage.
Alec Seaton - The senior from Wendell, NC, was named Second Team East Division for SS. Seaton collected 14 double plays on the season, tallying a .371 batting average and a .497 slugging percentage with 32 RBIs.
Gavin Taylor - The senior from Summerfield, NC, was named Second Team East Division for OF. Taylor notched 90 putouts while finishing the season with a .343 batting average and a .474 slugging percentage.
Austin Skipper - The senior from Wilmington, NC, was named Second Team East Division as a pitcher. Skipper was third in the USA South with a 2.77 ERA, notching 41 strikeouts.
Warren Gay - The senior from Clinton, NC, was named USA South All-Sportsmanship. Gay was a consistent leader in his career with the Pacers.
