CARY, N.C. - William Peace bounced back on Tuesday afternoon, defeating Roanoke 8-2 behind a 17 hit performance at the USA Baseball National Training Complex.
The Pacers broke through in the fifth inning, scoring five runs to take control of the game. Gavin Turner, Nathan Roller, and Jacob Herzberg each delivered RBI hits in the inning, while Aaron Kimbel added a two run single as Peace turned a one run deficit into a 6-2 lead.
Turner led the offense with three hits and two RBIs, while Roller had a perfect day at the plate going 4 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Herzberg added two hits and two RBIs, and Eddie Sanchez collected two hits and drove in a run as the Pacers totaled 17 hits in the win.
On the mound, William Peace used a strong staff effort to limit Roanoke to just two runs. Davis Hinshaw earned the win, while the bullpen combined to allow just seven hits across nine innings.
William Peace improves to 10-16 on the season and will return to conference play this weekend, hosting Mary Baldwin on Friday, April 3 at 4 PM, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, April 4.
