CARY, N.C. - William Peace University baseball wrapped up its 2026 Pacer Fall League World Series as Team 2-Clap swept Team Forkball in the two-game intrasquad series at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C.
Team 2-Clap claimed an 8-5 victory in Game 1 on Wednesday, October 7, before securing the series championship with a 9-5 win in Game 2 on Thursday, October 8.
Game 1: Team 2-Clap 8, Team Forkball 5
Team 2-Clap opened the series with an 8-5 victory, leading from start to finish behind a strong offensive performance from Gavin Turner.
Turner got the scoring started with a solo home run in the first inning as Team 2-Clap went on to score in six different innings. Holding an 8-1 lead entering the ninth, Team 2-Clap held off a late rally from Team Forkball, which plated four runs in the final inning before Tristan McGee shut down the comeback attempt.
Turner led the offense with a perfect 4-for-4 performance, recording a home run, double and walk to earn the All the Glory Award as the game's MVP.
Braden Soles added an RBI double and sacrifice fly, finishing 1-for-2 at the plate.
On the mound, Ethan Hummel started the contest with three innings of work, allowing just one earned run. Carter Culbreth followed with two scoreless innings, while Hunter Bennison tossed two hitless and scoreless innings with three strikeouts.
For Team Forkball, Nathaniel Roller finished 2-for-4 with two RBI, while Caden French went 1-for-3 with two walks.
Game 2: Team 2-Clap 9, Team Forkball 5
Team 2-Clap completed the series sweep with a 9-5 victory in Game 2, breaking a 5-5 tie after five innings to secure the PFL World Series championship.
After the teams battled through five innings, Team 2-Clap pulled away with four runs over the final three frames to claim the series title.
Jacob Herzberg and Braden Soles led the offensive effort, earning Co-All the Glory Awards for their performances.
Herzberg finished 2-for-4 with a triple, double, walk and two RBI, while Soles went 2-for-3 with a walk, hit-by-pitch and two RBI.
Owen Schmidt added a 2-for-3 performance with a double, walk, sacrifice fly and two RBI, earning the series Offensive MVP award.
Gavin Pufky contributed two hits, including a double, and a walk, while Brady Donovan finished 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Team 2-Clap also received strong contributions from its pitching staff. Kevin Hebert tossed two scoreless innings with one strikeout, while Dante McCullum and Davis Hinshaw each recorded a scoreless inning. McCullum struck out two batters, while Hinshaw added one strikeout.
Walker Dixon closed out his appearance with two hitless and scoreless innings, recording one strikeout.
Aiden Allred was recognized as the series Defensive MVP.
For Team Forkball, Cameron Crews went 2-for-3 with a double, walk and RBI, while Hayden Heath finished 2-for-4 with an RBI.
On the mound, Alejandro Posluszny pitched two innings, allowing one earned run and striking out one batter. Maddox Brown also worked two innings, allowing one earned run while recording four strikeouts.
Series Awards
With the two victories, Team 2-Clap claimed the 2026 Pacer Fall League World Series championship and the program's traditional "Great Pumpkin" trophy, concluding the annual fall intrasquad competition.
