Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. - William Peace is headed to the USA South Championship Series for the first time since 2023 after defeating top seeded Greensboro 5-3 on Sunday to win the bracket and improve to 20-23 on the season.
The Pacers set the tone early, scoring in the first inning and adding two more in the fourth before extending the lead to 4Â in the fifth. Greensboro responded with a three run home run in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to one, but William Peace answered again in the seventh. Leland Barrow delivered an RBI double to push the lead back to two and give the Pacers breathing room.
Offensively, the Pacers totaled 12 hits in the win. Nathan Roller led the way with three hits and an RBI, while Leland Barrow added two hits and drove in a run. Kahner Moss and Hayden Heath each recorded two hits, and Caden French reached base twice.
On the mound, Ethan Hummel delivered four scoreless innings to start the game, allowing no hits while working around four walks. Seth Svadeba took over in relief and closed out the final five innings to earn the win, improving to 9-1 on the season while continuing one of the top pitching campaigns in Division III.
With the win, William Peace advances to the best of three USA South Championship Series, where the Pacers will face second seeded Pfeiffer. The series is scheduled to begin Friday, May 8, with game two on Saturday, May 9, and a third game if necessary to follow.
