Men’s Soccer Defeats Shenandoah on the Road

WINCHESTER, N.C. – The WPU men's soccer team knocked off the Shenandoah Hornets in a 3-1 victory Sunday afternoon. The Pacers improve to 2-0 on the season.

The Pacers jumped on the board early with a solo goal from senior, Chris Deleon, taking place just one minute and 48 seconds into the game.  WPU would continue to control possession of the ball finishing the first half with 12 shots and nine of those being  shots on goal in comparison to the Hornets' two shots in the first half. A goal from senior, Seth Cranford at the 40 minute mark would send the Pacers up 2-0 at the half.

WPU continued to dominate the ball throughout the second half. Deleon contributed his second goal at the 48 minute mark adding to his career goals total (14). The senior,  forward now nearing the all-time leading goal scorer record for WPU men's soccer. The record is currently held by WPU men's soccer alum, Enrique Ochoa (16).

The Pacers strong defense held the Hornets scoreless until the 70 minute mark. Shenandoah managed to finish with two shots on goal for the entire competition.
Head Coach, Ryan Huber expressed, "I was really happy with the guy's effort today. They came out ready to play and were able to put one in early. I'm proud of the way the team played for each other for 90 minutes."

The Pacers will rally into their next contest, Wednesday,  September 6, where they will face Hampden-Sydney at 6:00P.M. at WakeMed Soccer Park.
