BREVARD, N.C. - The William Peace University men's soccer team battled Brevard College to a 1-1 draw Saturday night in USA South action. The Pacers move to 6-4-2 overall and 1-0-1 in conference play.
Peace generated several early opportunities, putting four shots on goal over the opening 21 minutes, but Brevard goalkeeper Soren Deweer kept the Pacers off the board. Brevard broke through first in the 38th minute when Rawad Khashan scored to give the Tornados a 1-0 lead.
The Pacers answered just before halftime. Jackson Campbell found the back of the net in the 45th minute to even the match at 1-1 heading into the break.
Peace continued to pressure Brevard throughout the second half, outshooting the Tornados 12-8 and earning eight corner kicks. The Pacers put six shots on goal after halftime but were unable to find the go-ahead goal.
Peace finished with a 25-14 advantage in shots, including an 11-4 edge in shots on goal, and held a 13-3 advantage in corner kicks. Dallas Story made three saves in goal for the Pacers.
William Peace returns home Saturday, Oct. 10, to host Southern Virginia University at 2 p.m. at WakeMed Soccer Park.
