CARY, N.C. - The William Peace University men's soccer team fell 3-2 to Randolph-Macon College Wednesday night at WakeMed Soccer Park. The Pacers move to 4-4-1 on the season with one match remaining before USA South conference play begins.
Peace got off to a quick start, taking a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute when Gabriel Faria Jr. found the back of the net off an assist from Chris Rodriguez. Joey Hurley doubled the Pacers' lead in the 16th minute, scoring off an assist from Faria Jr. to make it 2-0.
Randolph-Macon answered in the 29th minute with a goal from Barrett Wilson before Rylan Sumner scored in the 43rd minute to send the teams into halftime tied at 2-2.
The Yellow Jackets took their first lead of the night in the 50th minute when Charis Tchatat scored off an assist from Damien Jackson. Peace continued to push for an equalizer, recording four shots and four corner kicks in the second half, but unable to find the back of the net.
The Pacers finished with 11 shots and held an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks. Dallas Story played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded six saves.
William Peace returns to WakeMed Soccer Park on Saturday, Sept. 26, to host Regent University at 3 p.m. in its final non conference match before opening USA South play against Pfeiffer on Wednesday, Sept. 30.
