Men's Soccer Entering Weekend Of Conference Play

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The William Peace University men's soccer team head into their first conference game of the season on Saturday, September 16th. The 1:00 p.m. (CDT) matchup against the Huntingdon Hawks will be at the Emory Folmar Soccer Complex in Montgomery, AL. The Pacers are coming off of a close 2-1 loss against Eastern Mennonite University and look to improve their 3-2 record against the 0-4-1 Hawks.

Senior, Chris Deleon currently leads the team with 5 goals and 18 shots on goal, while goalkeeper Christian Ortiz has 19 saves and 2 shutouts on the season. Deleon is just one goal shy of breaking the record for WPU men's soccer all-time leading scorer, as he is currently tied with WPU alum, Enrique Ochoa, with 16 career goals. The Hawks' Hunter Hall leads their team in scoring, as the team is coming off their first conference loss to Maryville College.

The Pacers have a total of 55 shots on goal in 5 games and have limited their opponents to just 24 shots on the opposite end of the field. They will look to extend their offensive play in conference games and continue shutting down their opponents.
