Box Score RALEIGH – William Peace University's men's basketball team came from behind to beat Hampden-Sydney 80-73. William Peace (3-1) earned its first victory over Hampden-Sydney and starts the season 3-1 for only the second time in program history.
The Pacers trailed for much of the first half getting down by as much as nine points. The Pacers trailed the Tigers 42-36 heading into halftime.
WPU started slowly making a comeback with great ball movement and knocking down three pointers.
Chris Thomas made a three pointer to put the Pacers ahead by one, 57-56 with 11:48 left in the second half. Hampden-Sydney responded with a couple buckets, but
Chris Thomas sank another three to tie the game at 60-60. The Pacers forced a turnover on the next possession and scored in transition to take the lead and would never surrender it.
BY THE NUMBERS
Chris Thomas led all scorers with 21 points on seven of 13 shooting.
Jalen Vince filled up the box score with 17 points, seven assists, seven rebounds, and a steal, all while shooting better than .500. More importantly, Vince only turned the ball over once.
Willie Herring nearly reached a double-double off the bench with nine points and eight rebounds.

William Peace will have two road games before returning back to the Hermann Athletic Center on December 10. The Pacers will take on Bridgewater College on November 27 and Randolph-Macon on November 30.
