RALEIGH, N.C. - William Peace University men's basketball has announced the addition of former Pacer Tyler Parton as an assistant coach ahead of the 2026-27 season.
A four-year member of the Pacers from 2020-24, Parton returns to Raleigh after appearing in 90 games during his career. The Asheville, N.C. native made 52 starts and totaled 697 points, 158 rebounds, 156 assists, and 94 steals.
Over his four seasons, he connected on 113 three-pointers while shooting 34.1 percent from behind the arc. Parton played a key role in leading the Pacers to the 2023 USA South Championship game against NC Wesleyan. He also recorded a career-high 23 points at Mary Baldwin on Feb. 10, 2023, shooting 8-of-12 from the field and 4-of-4 from three-point range.
"For each of the core values in our program, we have a standard bearer. Tyler "TP" is the standard bearer for Empty the Tank. No one worked harder and more consistently day after day as a player. I am thrilled that our current players will get to learn from him as a coach as he continues to positively impact the program moving forward".
After playing all four seasons under Head Coach Claude Shields, Parton returns with a firsthand understanding of the expectations and culture of Peace men's basketball. He will now have the opportunity to help continue building the program he helped build as a student-athlete.
In addition to his accomplishments on the court, Parton earned recognition in the classroom, receiving a spot on the NABC Honors Court in 2023-24 and earned both USA South Academic All-Conference and CSC Academic All-District for multiple seasons.
Since graduating from William Peace, Parton has worked with Stella Energy Solutions, currently serving as a Corporate Finance Associate. He has also remained active in the game, spending the past two years coaching at Neuse Christian Academy, where he helped lead the program to back-to-back conference and tournament championships, while also providing private basketball instruction.He will begin working with the Pacers prior to the start of the 2026-27 season.
Parton said, "As Tom Brady says, 'The fish don't just jump in the boat.' If you want something, go out and earn it. Nothing worthwhile is handed to you. I'm excited to bring that mindset back to Peace."
