BUENA VISTA, Va. – The William Peace University baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to Southern Virginia University on Sunday afternoon, falling 9-4 in the opener and 14-8 in Game 2. Despite the losses, the Pacers showed growth at the plate with several positive offensive performances.
In Game 1, William Peace took an early 4-2 lead behind a solo home run from Alex Levesque and RBI contributions from Ian Turner and Justin Earle.
The Knights responded with a five-run fourth inning, highlighted by a three-run home run to take control of the game. Levesque led the Pacers going 3-for-5, while Gavin Turner also recorded three hits.
Jack McIntosh was credited with the loss, allowing eight earned runs over 4.1 innings pitched.
Game 2 featured an early 10-0 deficit for the Pacers before they mounted a large rally in the middle innings.
Levesque launched his second home run of the day, and Nick Tubolino followed with a two-run shot in the sixth to ignite the offense.
The Pacers added five more runs in the seventh inning, with RBI efforts from Jacob Cace, Turner, and Adam Joseph narrowing the gap. Ultimately, Southern Virginia added insurance runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings to secure the 14-8 victory. Tubolino, Turner, and Cace each recorded two hits in the contest.
