RALEIGH, N.C. - The William Peace Pacer women's basketball team took a tough 84-59 loss to a talented Brevard squad. Despite the loss, the Pacers found rhythm offensively in the second half, outscoring Brevard 41-35 over the final two quarters.
Zikira Henderson led the Pacers with a 24-point performance on 9-of-18 shooting, including three three-pointers. She added four rebounds, two steals, and four assists, fueling the team's second-half resurgence. Alayna Randolph grabbed a game-high nine rebounds while contributing 10 points, including two three-pointers of her own.
After a slow start, William Peace found their stride in the third and fourth quarters, shooting 43.75% and 56.25% from the field. The team's 19-point third quarter and 22-point fourth quarter marked a significant improvement, highlighted by their ball movement and perimeter shooting.
"We got into a hole early tonight and never really got back into the game." Head Coach Annalee Bollinger said after the game. "We came out in the second half and made some great plays to start but defensively, we gave up too many points tonight. I am still proud of our efforts and fight even down a good bit, we never stopped playing. We will continue to learn and grow from these losses."
Though the final score did not go in their favor, the Pacers' second-half effort demonstrated their potential and determination to compete. With a strong foundation and contributions from multiple players, William Peace continues to build momentum as the season progresses.
The Pacers are back in action on Tuesday, January 28th as they host the Knights of Southern Virignia at 6 PM.
