Pacers Shine At Royals Challenge As Steele And Morgan Set New Records

MCHARLOTTE, NC -- William Peace University men's and women's cross country continued their record-breaking start to the season as Alana Morgan and Shawntez Mickens each crushed their previous PR and school-record times at the Queens University Royals Challenge. Daniel Steele also set a blazing new school record for the men's 8k as numerous Pacers set new PRs.

Alana Morgan finished first for the WPU women in the 5k with a time of 22.07.0, beating her previous record-breaking time of 23.06.7 from just a few weeks ago. This would also mark a new PR for her and would see her finish 82nd overall. Shawntez Mickens was just behind Morgan at 22.07.6, beating her previous best time of 23.42.4 and putting the pair at the top of the record list to hold the top four times in the 5k. Caitlin Bobbitt would also move onto that list with a time of 23.24.8, with Claire Boaz and Camryn Straughn also finishing strong for the Pacers as both set new PRs, with Straughn crushing her previous PR by 13 minutes.

In the men's 8k, Daniel Steele would set the pace to finish 57th overall for WPU, hitting a time of 27.43.5 to beat the previous school record held by Tucker Soltesz (29.07.5) and also setting a new PR. Caleb Clendenning finished at 29.52.0, with Connor Thomas, Ethan Davis, and Vian Villa rounding out a strong showing for the Pacers as all three also set new PRs.
