FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The William Peace University cross country team opened its season at the Methodist University Downback Invitational on September 5. Sophie Patterson led the women's side, finishing 21st in the 4K with a time of 24:20.25. On the men's side, freshman Benjamin Castro recorded a 25:54.02, earning 12th place in the 6K.

Competing against a mix of strong regional programs, the Pacers' efforts stood out in both races. Coker topped both the women's (35 pts) and men's (26 pts) team standings, while Methodist took second on the men's side and Meredith finished second among the women's teams. 

William Peace will return to action at the Pfeiffer Invitational on September 12th.
