Women's Basketball Continues Conference Play With Pair of Home Games

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The William Peace University women's basketball team is back in the Hermann Gym this weekend with a pair of home games. The Pacers take on Averett University on Saturday, January 20 and Mary Baldwin University on Sunday, January 21 both at 2:00 p.m.

The Pacers were unable to play their game against Greensboro College on Wednesday, January 16 due to winter weather passing through the state of North Carolina, therefore, their last contest was played on Sunday, January 13 against North Carolina Wesleyan University. Despite a tough battle, the Pacers fell 89-93. In their first match against the Cougars of Averett University, the Pacers suffered a 101-66 loss where Averett's Sam Chandler had a record breaking night for the women's basketball program in Danville, VA. The Pacers were lead by sophomore, Mikayla Ray who put up 30 points and pulled down 13 rebounds. Ray is currently earning national recognition as she is ranked third in the nation in defensive rebounds (130), tenth in the nation in points per game (22.3), ninth in the nation in rebounds per game (13.8), and thirteenth in the nation in double-doubles this season (9).
