CARY, N.C. -- The William Peace University men's soccer team faced Brevard College in a USA South matchup on Sunday, October 8th. This marked the third game for the Pacers in a four-day span. Despite the aggressive effort, WPU was unable to hold off the Tornadoes of Brevard, falling 4-2. The Pacers drop to (6-7-1) overall and remain (2-4-1) in conference while Brevard Improves to (3-6) on the year.
Brevard took an early lead in the first half with a goal from Jesse Omezi at the 11 minute mark. Jorge Jimenez would turn right around and put Brevard up 2-0 on a goal in the 15th minute.
The Pacers answered with a goal assisted by
Junior Ayala at the 19 minute mark by
Chris Deleon, his 10th of the season. Soon after the Pacers would tie the game on a goal by
Kevin Amaya in the 21st minute of play. However, the tie was short lived as Brevard would take a 3-2 lead on a Brock Tuttle goal at the 27 minute mark. The Tornadoes would hold this lead going into the half.
The second half yielded aggressive play and little result until the 86th minute of play when BC's Brock Tuttle scored his second goal of the day to put Brevard up 4-2. The Tornadoes would hold onto this lead ultimately defeating the Pacers.
The Pacers will square off against NC Wesleyan in Rocky Mount, NC at 4:00 on Wednesday, October. The Battling Bishops are (7-5) overall and (6-1) in conference play. NCWC is ranked first in the USA South East Division.
