CARY, N.C. -- The WPU women's soccer team fell to Meredith College 2-0 on Wednesday evening.The Pacers hosted their pink game in honor of the Play4Kay foundation. The women's soccer team created their own team page to raise funds for the foundation which can be accessed
here.
The first half started off slow with the Pacers playing on the defensive side of the ball for the majority of the period. The Pacers only allowed the Angels to score one goal after the first 45 minutes. Freshman goalie,
Jessika Schutte had 7 saves for the first half. Sophomore,
Alyssa Gasperini had one goal attempt that was saved by Meredith goalie, Jaisa Loch.
The second half continued with continuous pressure on the Angel offense. The second goal of the night would come in the 78th minute by Meredith forward, Kelsey Russell.
Schutte wrapped up the night with 13 saves in net for the Pacers.
WPU women's soccer drops to (1-7) overall and (0-3) in the conference. The Pacers' next match is against Pfeiffer University on Sunday, October 7th, at 2:00 p.m.
