Basketball Team 1976-77

The 1976-77 basketball team, with an overall record of 20 wins versus only 8 losses, was the runner-up in the 1977 Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) National JC/CC Tournament.  Its final national ranking – 2nd – is the highest for any Peace College team in any sport. The team was selected as the inaugural inductee into the Peace College Athletics Hall of Fame.

The team was coached by Nora Lynn Finch (Head Coach) and Sherry Leonardo.  

Co-captains of the team were Sherry Matthews ’77 and Lyn Story ’77. Other members of the team included Debbie Britt ’78, Jeannie Teague ’77, Sherry Coats ’77, Kathy Jacobs ’78, Frances Daniel ’78, Nell Warmack ’77, Jean Black ’77, Wendy Barricks ’78, Ronnie Laughlin ’78, Sue Saunders ’78, Pat Pickard ’77, and Amy Lupton ’78. Team managers included Jane Bailey and Anna Wood.
