RALEIGH, N.C. - After leading all of NCAA Division III in caused turnovers per game during the 2026 season, the William Peace University men's lacrosse team has earned national recognition from both the NCAA's official statistical rankings and Division III lacrosse publication DeeThreeLax.
The Pacers finished the season No. 1 in NCAA Division III with 16.35 caused turnovers per game, forcing 278 turnovers in 17 games to lead the nation. William Peace finished ahead of Christopher Newport (15.55), Keene State (15.38), Wooster (14.67) and Illinois Wesleyan (14.28) in the NCAA's final team statistical rankings.
The accomplishment was later highlighted by DeeThreeLax, which recognized the Pacers as the nation's leader in caused turnovers per game in its 2026 Division III Team Stats series.
The nation's top-ranked defense was anchored by freshman Caden Tuthill, who rewrote the program record book with 49 caused turnovers while adding 56 ground balls. Tuthill surpassed the previous single-season school record of 38 caused turnovers, a mark set just one season earlier by current sophomore Derrick Buchanan during his freshman campaign in 2025.
For the second consecutive season, a William Peace freshman established a new single-season program record for caused turnovers.
Transfer Brady Dole made an immediate impact in his first season with the Pacers, finishing second on the team with 39 caused turnovers and a team-high 60 ground balls. Buchanan followed with 29 caused turnovers.
Together, Tuthill, Dole and Buchanan combined for 117 caused turnovers, accounting for more than 42 percent of the team's 278 caused turnovers during the season.
