CARY, N.C. - William Peace baseball closed out its home conference schedule in style Saturday, sweeping a Senior Day doubleheader against Southern Virginia at the USA Baseball National Training Complex. The Pacers rallied for an 11-9 win in game one before taking game two, 9-5, in a rain-shortened game called after six innings. William Peace now sits at 17-22 overall and 9-12 in USA South play while awaiting conference tournament seeding.
In game one, the Pacers erased a 9-5 deficit with a six-run seventh inning. Aaron Kimbel went 4-for-4 with three RBI, while Nick Weisner finished 3-for-4 with three RBI. Kahner Moss added two hits and two RBI, including the game-tying hit during the rally. Seth Svadeba earned the save with two scoreless innings.
In game two, William Peace scored six runs in the first two innings and never gave up the lead. Caden French went 2-for-4 with two RBI, Gavin Turner was 2-for-3 with two RBI, and Aaron Kimbel added two more RBI. Kyle Peters scored twice and collected two hits as the Pacers totaled 11 hits in the win. Justin Long earned the victory on the mound.
With the regular season complete, William Peace now turns its attention to the upcoming USA South Tournament.
