GREENSBORO, N.C. - William Peace opened the USA South Tournament with a 5-3 win over N.C. Wesleyan on Wednesday afternoon at Ted Leonard Park.
Peace jumped out early with two runs in the first inning and added another in the third inning. After Wesleyan battled back to even the game at 3-3, the Pacers responded in the seventh as Leland Barrow drove in the go-ahead run. Gavin Turner then provided insurance in the ninth, launching a solo home run to extend the lead.
Turner led the offense with a 3-for-4 performance, finishing with a home run, two runs scored, and an RBI, while Kahner Moss added three hits and scored three times. Nathan Roller also contributed with a pair of hits and two RBIs.
On the mound, Maddax Brown earned the win in relief, allowing just two runs over three innings, while Seth Svadeba closed out the game with three scoreless innings to record the save.
William Peace will face No. 1 Greensboro on Thursday, May 1 at 1 p.m. in Greensboro, N.C. at Ted Leonard Park.
