CARY, N.C. - William Peace picked up a big non conference victory on Tuesday afternoon, defeating Chowan 20-7 in seven innings at the USA Baseball National Training Complex. The win moves the Pacers to 13-20 overall and gives Peace momentum heading into this weekend's conference series at Brevard.
The Pacers pounded out 16 hits and scored in every inning but the third. Leland Barrow led the offense with a perfect 4-4 day, four doubles, and five RBIs. Caden French added two hits, four runs scored, and an RBI, while Gavin Turner drove in three runs. Jadon Jones provided a spark off the bench with a two run double, and Pete Maldonado added an RBI hit.
After Chowan scored two runs in the opening inning, Peace answered immediately and then broke the game open with five runs in the second. The Pacers added five more in the fifth and six in the sixth to put the game away.
William Peace will now turn its attention to USA South play this weekend with a road series at Brevard.
