CARY, N.C. - William Peace dropped the final game of the four game series to Rhode Island College on Monday afternoon, falling 8-3 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex. Despite the loss, the Pacers secured the series win, taking three of the four games over the Anchormen.
Rhode Island College broke the game open with a four run third inning and added insurance runs in the fifth and eighth to build some separation. William Peace responded with two runs in the third when Caden French drove in a run with a single and Eddie Sanchez followed with an RBI hit by pitch to cut the lead to three.
French led the Pacers offensively with three hits, including a double, while Gavin Turner added a hit and two walks. Nick Weisner drove in a run in the seventh to bring the Pacers within four, but the Anchormen answered with two runs in the eighth to hold on for the win.
William Peace moves to 6-10 on the season and will now turn its attention to USA South conference play. The Pacers host Pfeiffer University on Friday, March 13 with first pitch scheduled for 4 PM at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary.
