CARY, N.C. - William Peace opened USA South conference play this weekend but fell in all three games of the series against Pfeiffer University at the USA Baseball National Training Complex.
The Falcons took the opener on Friday with a 7-0 victory. Pfeiffer broke the scoreless tie with a three run fifth inning before adding four more in the seventh. Nathan Roller led the Pacers with two hits, including a double, while Hayden Heath and Jacob Herzberg also recorded hits in the contest.
In Saturday's first game, Pfeiffer jumped out to an early lead with six runs in the first inning and held on for a 7 -4 win. William Peace responded with runs in the first, second, and seventh innings as Gavin Turner drove in two runs and Nathan Roller finished with three hits to lead the Pacer offensive.
The Falcons completed the series sweep in the second game Saturday, defeating the Pacers 5-2. Hayden Heath drove in a run while Kyle Peters added an RBI double, and Nathan Roller recorded two hits as William Peace collected nine hits in the game but was unable to close the gap late.
William Peace moves to 6-13 overall and 0-3 in USA South play. The Pacers will look to bounce back next weekend when they travel to face NC Wesleyan in another conference series beginning Friday.
