CARY, N.C. - William Peace secured its second win of the series Friday afternoon, defeating Johnson and Wales 6-2 in the opening game of a doubleheader before falling in the second game as the Pacers took two of three games in the series.
In game one, the Pacers used a balanced offensive attack and strong pitching to secure the win. Nathan Roller collected two hits and drove in two runs, while Gavin Turner added two hits including a double and an RBI. Justin Earle and Aidan Allred also drove in runs as Peace finished with 10 hits on the afternoon. Landon Coleman earned the win on the mound, throwing five innings and allowing two runs while striking out five. Jacob Boyles closed the door with 1.2 innings of scoreless relief to record the save.
Johnson and Wales responded in the second game, jumping out to an early lead and ultimately taking a 14-5 game three. Nathan Roller recorded two hits including a triple, while Leland Barrow added two hits and two RBIs. Aidan Allred also collected two hits as the Pacers tallied seven hits in the contest.
William Peace moves to 3-9 on the season and will look to carry momentum into tomorrow's match up against Rhode Island College. First pitch is scheduled for 3 PM at the USA Baseball National Training Complex.
