RALEIGH, N.C. - William Peace softball picked up two big wins Saturday at the Grand Slam Triangle Softball Classic, defeating sixth ranked Rowan 4-0 before taking down The College of New Jersey 6-3 to complete a perfect opening day.
In the morning game, senior pitcher Reagan Stewart delivered a historic performance in the circle, throwing a complete game no hitter to lead the Pacers past sixth ranked Rowan. Stewart worked all seven innings without allowing a hit while striking out four and issuing five walks as Peace shut out the Profs 4-0.
The Pacers broke through in the fourth inning when Kinley Jordan drove in two runs with a single to give Peace the lead. Isabelle Olson added insurance in the sixth inning with a solo home run, and Stewart helped her own cause with an RBI single in the seventh as Peace finished with eight hits in the victory. Cierra Lear led the offense with three hits.
Peace carried that momentum into the afternoon match up against The College of New Jersey. After falling behind early, the Pacers responded with a two run second inning and exploded for four runs in the third to take control of the game.
Reagan Stewart doubled home a run to tie the game before Allison Burlew and Marissa Fuller each drove in runs during the inning. Taylor Byrd also added an RBI as Peace built a 6-3 lead that would hold for the remainder of the game.
