CARY, N.C. - William Peace moved to 5-0 on the season Sunday afternoon with a 13-7 win over Averett University at home.
The Pacers found themselves in an early hole, trailing 4 to 1 midway through the first quarter before responding with three straight goals to even the score at 4-4 by the end of the period. From there, Peace settled in and gradually took control, outscoring Averett 9 to 3 over the final three quarters.
William English led the way with three goals and four assists for seven points, continuing his strong stretch offensively. Caleb Garey added two goals and two assists, while Brandon Goad and Tyveon Brock each scored twice. Connor Barnes, Dylan Sullivan, Aidan McNeely, and Zachary Turner also found the net as the Pacers finished with 50 shots in the win.
Carson McGee recorded 10 saves in goal, helping Peace withstand Averett's early pressure before the defense tightened up in the second half.
Head coach Troy Humphrey was encouraged by the response but emphasized the need for sharper starts moving forward. "Another slow start. We've got to start better," Humphrey said. "We battled, but we can't get down 4-1 and expect to win conference games."
William Peace will look to clean that up as they head back on the road. The Pacers travel to Randolph College on Wednesday, March 4 at 6 p.m.
