RALEIGH, N.C. - William Peace men's basketball dropped its second conference game on Friday night, falling 65-55 to Mary Baldwin University inside the Hermann Athletic Center. The Pacers move to 6-7 overall and 0-2 in USA South play following the loss.
The contest was competitive throughout, with both teams trading leads in the first half. Mary Baldwin held a 31-28 advantage at the break after shooting efficiently from the field, while the Pacers stayed within close distance.
Peace continued to battle in the second half and briefly grabbed momentum with perimeter shooting, but Mary Baldwin answered with key baskets and free throws down the stretch to maintain control. The Pacers were unable to close the gap in the final minutes despite several late opportunities.
Parker Hodgson and Shawn Jones led Peace with 12 points apiece. Jones added five rebounds and four assists, while Hodgson also pulled down nine boards. Elijah Green finished with 10 points off the bench, knocking down three three-pointers, and Elijah Cathcart added seven points and nine rebounds.
William Peace will look to quickly regroup as it returns to action on Saturday afternoon, hosting Southern Virginia University at 4 p.m. inside the Hermann Athletic Center.
