CARY, NC - The William Peace men's lacrosse team battled in a high-scoring match up Tuesday evening but fell short to Greensboro College, 17-12, in a USA South contest.
The Pacers (4-5, 2-3 USA South) traded goals early with the Pride (5-8, 2-2), recording a tie at 6-6 midway through the second quarter after a man-up goal from Brandon Goad—his third of the half.
Goad led the way with 5 goals and 2 assists, including a pair of goals in the fourth quarter to keep WPU within close distance. He was joined by Chase Petty and Quinn Acree, who scored 2 goals each, and Caleb Trahan, who added a late goal in the final minute.
William English and Jamar Bell each contributed a goal and an assist, while goalkeeper Dylan Sullivan recorded 10 saves in the net, facing 27 shots on goal from a relentless Greensboro offense.
On the defensive end, Derrick Buchanan led the way, collecting 6 ground balls and causing 4 turnovers.
Despite out shooting Greensboro 43-39 and matching them in shots on goal (27 apiece), the Pacers couldn't overcome the hot-shooting Pride.
The Pacers look to bounce back in their next match up at Pfeiffer University on Saturday, April 12th.
