MONTGOMERY, AL - The William Peace University women's lacrosse team opened their 2025 season on the road against Huntingdon College but fell short in a 13-4 defeat on Saturday at Charles Lee Field.
The Pacers (0-1, 0-1 USA South) battled throughout the game, with goals from Sam Huff, Egypt Carroll, Elise Langer, and Mary Langer. E. Langer also contributed an assist in the contest. Huntingdon (1-2, 1-0 USA South) controlled possession and created numerous offensive opportunities, outshooting WPU 37-10.
"I'm really proud of their effort today." WPU Head Coach Rebecca Fraser said after the game. "The girls really stepped up in the second half. "We learned a lot about what we need to work on moving forward."
Huntingdon set the tone early, scoring eight goals in the first quarter while holding the Pacers to just two. Sam Huff got WPU on the board in the first quarter with a free-position goal.
Elise Langer followed up with a goal late in the first, keeping the Pacers within distance at 8-2. In the third quarter, Mary Langer found the back of the net off an assist from Elise Langer, but Huntingdon extended their lead with three more goals. Egypt Carroll added a final goal for WPU in the fourth, but Huntingdon was able to secure the 13-4 victory.
Defensively, goalkeeper Aryal Brandon tallied 13 saves in goal.
The Pacers will return in action on March 15th as they host NC Wesleyan for their Home Opener at 10 AM.
