CARY, N.C. - William Peace University's women's lacrosse team earned a 9-5 victory over N.C. Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon. Led by an outstanding six-goal performance from Mary Langer, the Pacers controlled the tempo from start to finish, securing their first win of the year.
"Really happy with the girls effort and perseverance." WPU Head Coach Rebecca Fraser said after the game. "They fought really hard and worked for each other. Overall, it was a great team win all around, very proud of them!"
Langer wasted no time getting on the board, scoring two quick goals in the first quarter to help William Peace take an early lead. She added four more throughout the game, including a free-position goal in the fourth quarter that sealed the win. Her sister, Elise Langer, contributed with a goal and two assists, showcasing strong chemistry between the siblings. Sam Huff also played a key role, recording two goals, including a late man-up goal to put the game out of reach.
On the defensive end, Aryal Brandon held it down in goal, recording 11 saves. The Pacers' defense stepped up big, forcing 12 turnovers and dominating the ground ball battle with 20 recoveries.
William Peace now looks ahead to their next match up on Wednesday, March 19 as they face cross-town rival Meredith College.
