CARY, N.C. – The William Peace baseball team put together a strong offensive performance with 12 hits but fell to Muskingum 8-4 on Sunday afternoon at home. Despite taking an early lead and holding a two-run advantage into the late innings, the Pacers were unable to hold off the Muskies' seventh-inning rally.
William Peace (0-8) jumped on the board first in the second inning after Kyle Peters delivered an RBI single, scoring Nick Tubolino. The Pacers continued their momentum in the fourth as Ian Turner came through with a two-run single to give WPU a 3-2 lead.
The Pacers extended their lead to 4-2 in the sixth when Tubolino knocked in another run with a single to center field.
Despite strong efforts at the plate from Gavin Turner (2-for-3, 2 BB, 1 R), I. Turner (2-for-4, 2 RBI), and Tubolino (2-for-5, 1 RBI, 1 R), the Pacers struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities in the later innings.
On the mound, Jarrett Hall gave WPU a solid start, going five innings while allowing just two earned runs on four hits. However, the bullpen ran into trouble, surrendering two runs in the seventh and two more in the ninth.
The Pacers will look to regroup as they prepare for their next home match up this Thursday against Johnson & Wales.
