RALEIGH, N.C. - Sunny and 70 degrees, ideal for baseball. The Pacers were energetic and optimistic about submitting their first bid to the win column. The game felt as if it was split into two halves. Sophomore Ryan Manning toed the rubber for the Pacers, keeping the Quakers quiet for the first four frames.
The Pacers drew first blood on Wednesday when a Nick Tubolino single scored Alex Levesque. The crowd was loving the offense, and so was the dugout as timely hitting has been hard to come by early in 2025.
The Quaker offense, who had been held in check for the first half of the game, came alive in the 5th. A couple of hard hit balls and a tough error from the Pacer defense allowed Guilford to score 3 runs, taking control of the momentum.
The Quakers copied and pasted another 3 in the top of the 6th as Guilford couldn't miss a barrel. Sophomore Grady Swinson provided a little bit of relief for the Pacers, until the Quakers got right back at it in the 8th.
The 4 runs in the top of the eighth once again provided a knockout shot to the Pacers. Peace falls to 0-6 on the season, still searching for positivity as they march into the upcoming weekend series against Muskingum.
Who will provide the spark is the question Pacer fans are asking themselves. Peace has only mustered up 9 runs in six games, while giving up 38. The Pacers need a full system reset mentally, as the next game is always the most important one.
