Women's Basketball Comes Up Short Late Against Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va. - William Peace women's basketball dropped a tightly contested match up Tuesday night, falling 77-70 to undefeated Lynchburg after holding the lead for much of the game.

The Pacers controlled the first half with efficient ball movement and sharp shooting, heading into the break up 44-34 after shooting 76 percent in the second quarter. Peace maintained the advantage into the third, but Lynchburg responded with a 23-11 fourth quarter to shift the momentum and close out the game.

Zikira Henderson led the Pacers with 21 points, six rebounds, three assists, and three steals, knocking down three triples to keep Peace within close distance. Alayna Randolph chipped in 10 points and five rebounds, while Anyah Henderson added 10 points, five rebounds, and three steals off the bench.

Kristin Barber provided strong depth with nine points on 3-for-4 shooting, and freshman forward Zakoreya Davis contributed five points. Peace finished the night at 45 percent from the floor but struggled at the free throw line, going 10-for-22.

With the loss, the Pacers move to 2-2 ahead of the Empowerment Classic hosted by Hollins University. Peace will face Agnes Scott on Friday at 5 p.m. and Hollins on Saturday at 4 p.m.
