McIntosh Hurls Second Straight Shutout In 12-0 Win Over Greensboro

CARY, N.C. – Jack McIntosh threw his second straight shutout as William Peace throttled Greensboro 12-0 in eight innings at the USA Baseball National Training Complex on Friday.

The victory was the fourth in a row for the Pacers, who improved to 5-2 in the USA South and 9-12 overall. The Pacers are tied for second in the conference. Greensboro fell to 3-4 in the USA South and 14-10 overall.

McIntosh, named USA South Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday, scattered eight hits, struck out two, walked no batters and allowed no extra base hits in eight complete innings. The Clayton, N.C., native fired a shutout in nine complete innings in an 8-0 victory over Mary Baldwin last Sunday, earning him the conference weekly pitching honor.

The Pacers scored seven runs in the seventh inning to put the game out of reach with an 11-0 lead. Cole Thompson started the scoring with a two-RBI double and Jake Dacunto scored on an error on the same play.

Will Stadler scored on another error and Griffin Sandstrum hit a two-run single. Dacunto finished the scoring with an RBI single.

Sandstrum hit an RBI single to end the game in the eighth inning, due to the 12-run mercy rule which goes into effect in the seventh inning.

The Pacers started the scoring with a two-run single from Andy Duran in the first inning. They added two runs in the third inning on an error that scored Alex Levesque and an RBI bases-loaded walk to Cole Thompson.

Sandstrum batted 4-for-5 with three RBIs and Duran went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Thompson had a double and three RBIs and Tyler scored four runs.

Both teams will play a doubleheader at the USA Baseball National Training Complex on Saturday, March 30. The first game begins at 1 p.m. followed by the second game at approximately 4 p.m.
