McIntosh Hurls Shutout In 8-0 Win Over Mary Baldwin

CARY, N.C. – Jack McIntosh fired a six-hit shutout as William Peace routed Mary Baldwin 8-0 in the first of a three-game series at the USA Baseball National Training Complex on Sunday.

The Pacers improved to 2-2 in the USA South and 6-12 overall. Mary Baldwin dropped to 1-3 in the USA South and 4-12 overall.

McIntosh went the distance for his second win (2-2) of the season. He struck out four, walked none and did not allow an extra base bit.

"Jack was fantastic today," Pacers Head Coach Charlie Long said. "He gave the team a huge boost in throwing a complete game."

The Pacers' batters supported McIntosh with 16 hits, including five hits in a five-run fifth inning. It was the second-most hits for the Pacers this season.

Alex Levesque capped the fifth inning with a three-run triple for a 5-0 lead. Griffin Sandstrum and Jake Dacunto earlier hit RBI singles in the inning to put the Pacers on the scoreboard.

Sandstrum added an RBI single in the sixth inning and Levesque drove in two runs with a single in the eighth inning.

Levesque totaled five RBIs on 3-for-5 hitting. Sandstrum had two RBIs and two runs scored on 3-for-5 hitting.

Dacunto was 2-for-2 with one RBI and one run scored and Nick Tyler finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Cole Thompson and Tyler Stocksdale each batted 2-for-4 with one run scored and Ian Turner scored a run.

Both teams resume play with a doubleheader on Monday at the USA Baseball National Training Complex. The first game begins at 12 p.m. followed by the second game at approximately 3 p.m.
