Pacers Fall To Averett In Non-Conference Baseball Game

CARY, N.C. – Nick Tyler and Andy Duran had two RBIs each for William Peace in an 8-6 baseball loss to Averett at the USA Baseball National Training Complex on Tuesday.

Cameron Barefoot scored two runs for the Pacers, who led 6-5 until the eighth inning. Averett scored three runs in the eighth for the non-conference win.

Tyler scored Barefoot and Adam Joseph on a single to push the Pacers ahead 6-5 in the fourth inning. The Pacers maintained the lead until the eighth inning.

Jake Dacunto had an RBI walk, Duran followed with a two-run single to score Griffin Sandstrum and Tyler, and Dacunto scored on a passed ball to give the Pacers a 4-3 lead in the first inning.

Barefoot, the lead-off batter, was 2-for-3 with a triple and two walks in addition to two runs scored. Tyler recorded his fourth stolen base of the season.

The Pacers return to USA South Conference action this weekend, hosting Mary Baldwin in a three-game series. The first game is set for Sunday, March 24, at the USA Baseball National Training Complex at 1 p.m.
