Joseph's Single Lifts Pacers To 8-7 Win Over Rochester In Doubleheader Split

CARY, N.C. – Adam Joseph smacked a two-out RBI single in the seventh inning to give William Peace an 8-7 victory over Rochester in the second game of a baseball doubleheader at the USA Baseball National Training Complex on Wednesday.

The Pacers split the two-day, four-game series with the Pipers. They visit Methodist on Friday in the first of a three-game weekend series to open the USA South Conference season.

Joseph's single to right field scored Andy Duran, who opened the inning with a triple. The hit ended the seven-inning game after the Pipers scored six runs in the top half of the seventh to tie the score.

Joseph finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Nick Tyler batted 2-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored and Duran was 2-for-4 with an RBI and one run scored. Tyler Stockdale scored twice and was walked three times.

Dylan Hill was the winning pitcher after throwing 0.1 innings. With runners on first and second in the seventh, Hill entered the game and forced a popup to end the inning, setting up Joseph's heroics.

The Pacers scored four runs in the third inning and two runs in the fourth inning to open a 6-1 lead. In the third, Tyler hit an RBI single and later scored on an error. Both Duran and Dalton Meredith added RBI singles. In the fourth, Cameron Barefoot had a sacrifice fly for an RBI and Aaron Kimbel had a bases-loaded RBI walk.

Stockdale scored on a balk in the sixth inning to pad the lead to 7-1 before the thrilling ending.

In the first game, the Pacers nearly battled back from a 5-0 deficit in the last two innings. Tyler scored on an error in the sixth inning to slice the deficit to four. In the seventh inning, Nick Tubolino scored on a wild pitch and Tyler added a sacrifice fly for an RBI.
