Randolph, Blackburn Post Double Doubles In Narrow OT Loss To Greensboro

RALEIGH, N.C. – The William Peace women's basketball team fell one shot short of gaining a USA South Conference win.

The Pacers missed a driving floater with seconds remaining in overtime to give Greensboro a 61-60 victory at the Hermann Athletic Center on Wednesday.

The tandem of Alayna Randolph and Brittany Blackburn both posted their first collegiate double doubles in points and rebounds to lead the Pacers (0-2 USA South, 1-6 overall). Randolph finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds to go along with five steals and three assists. Blackburn came off the bench to register 12 points and 10 rebounds in addition to three steals.

They led four Pacers in double figures. Zikira Henderson matched Randolph with 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Brene'a Daye contributed 10 points for the Pacers, who nearly rallied from a four-point overtime deficit.

The Pacers made 5 of 6 free throws to pull within 61-60 with under 20 seconds left. They regained possession after a turnover but missed a contested close shot as the seconds ticked down.

William Peace had a chance to win in regulation after trailing by six in the fourth period but missed a late three-pointer.

The Pacers forced 25 turnovers and recorded 16 steals to stay within striking distance. Greensboro (1-1 USA South, 3-5 overall) led the entire game except for the opening minutes.

Azuria Barrino tallied 17 points and nine rebounds for the Pride, who forced 23 William Peace turnovers. Meah Brooks added 15 points.

The Pacers are off until Dec. 13 against Guilford in a non-conference matchup. Game time is 5 p.m. in Greensboro, N.C.
