Women's Basketball Hosts Greensboro In Second Game of Men's and Women's Doubleheader Wednesday

Alayna Randolph
RALEIGH, N.C. – The William Peace women's basketball team returns home after three straight road games to host USA South foe Greensboro on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free to the contest, the second of a men's and women's doubleheader at the Hermann Athletic Center.

The last time the Pacers (0-1 USA South, 1-5 overall) were home, they edged Lynchburg 58-57 for their only win on Nov. 16. Since then, the Pacers endured a three-game losing skid, including a 73-41 loss to Virginia Wesleyan on Monday. The Pacers hope that Wednesday's home game is the remedy to snap their losing streak.

Zikira Henderson has been a bright spot for the Pacers. The freshman guard is averaging 28.5 points in the last two games, including a career-high 35 in a conference loss to Brevard on Nov. 23. On Monday, Henderson scored 22 points against Virginia Wesleyan.

For the season, Henderson averages a team-high 14.2 points per game. Alayna Randolph averages 8.2 points and team-highs of five rebounds, three steals and two assists per game.

Greensboro (0-1 USA South, 2-5 overall) is coming off a 76-35 loss to Randolph on Sunday. Meah Brooks leads the Pride in scoring (9.3 ppg) and snatches 5.6 rebounds per game. Nakiyah Kelly averages a team-high 6.6 rebounds per game for the Pride, losers of four consecutive games.

The Pacers enter the contest averaging 48.3 points per game compared to 47.1 points for the Pride. Opponents average 69.5 points against William Peace and 62.9 points against Greensboro, which has won five of the last six games in the series.
