Pacers Fall To Brevard On The Road

BREVARD, N.C. – William Peace stayed close for much of the game but Brevard pulled away for a 78-58 women's basketball victory on Saturday at Boshamer Gymnasium.

The Pacers rallied from a 35-29 halftime deficit to tie the score three times in the third period. With the game knotted at 43-43, the Tornados scored 13 unanswered points in the final two minutes to push their lead to 56-43 entering the fourth period. The margin stayed in double digits throughout the fourth.

Nautica Smiley scored 14 points and added three steals for the Pacers (4-7 USA South, 6-11 overall). Ja'Naisja Baker added nine points and four assists and Tanaesha Ellison finished with eight points and six rebounds. Hannah Lewis chipped in seven points and seven rebounds for the Pacers, who outscored Brevard in second chance points 16-13.

Olivia Miller totaled 18 points, 12 rebounds, nine assists and three steals for Brevard (7-3 USA South, 12-4 overall). The Pacers were outscored 42-18 in the paint and 30-20 in turnover points.

The Pacers will step out the conference for a road game against Johnson & Wales on Wednesday, Jan. 24. Game time is 6 p.m. in Charlotte, N.C.
