Baseball Sweeps Conference Opponent Mary Baldwin

STAUNTON, VA -- William Peace University baseball swept Mary Baldwin with a 16-3 win in game two and a 10-8 win in game three.

THE BASICS

KEY POINTS
Game One
  • Mary Baldwin would take an early 1-0 lead in the first before a sacrifice fly from Nick Tyler would tie it 1-1. A single from Andy Duran and a double from Jacob Norris would put the Pacers ahead 4-1 in the third, while an error in the 4th would bring the score to 5-1.
  • Homeruns from Jake Dacunto and Patrick Rogan would give the Pacers an 8-1 lead in the 5th. J. Lallo would hit a homerun for Mary Baldwin to cut the score to 8-3.
  • A triple from Nick Tubolino and a groundout from Nick Tyler would give the Pacers a 10-3 lead in the 6th. A sac fly from Duran and a single from Tubolino would bring the score to 12-3, with the Pacers adding a few final runs in the top of the 8th for a 16-3 win.
Game Two
  • The Pacers would take a big 5-0 lead in the first with sac flys from Rogan and Ian Turner and a single from Will Thistle. Brett Kemp and Turner would have big hits in the 4th for a 7-0 lead, while two homeruns from Mary Baldwin and a few errors would cut the score to 7-6 in the 4th and 5th. 
  • At the top of the 8th, singles from Jacob Norris and Nick Tyler would put the Pacers up 9-6. A walk for Brett Kemp would give the Pacers a 10-6 lead. Mary Baldwin would rally in the bottom of the 8th, but the Pacers would hold them off for the 10-8 win.

PACER TOP PERFORMERS
  • Brett Kemp went 3 for 3 in game one and 2 for 2 in game two with 2 RBIs.
  • Jack McIntosh tallied 4 strikeouts in game one.
FOR THE FOES
  • J. Lallo went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs in game one.
