Pacers Rout LaGrange 93-60 In Guilford Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Five players scored in double figures as William Peace led from start to finish in a 93-60 trouncing of LaGrange in the Guilford College Invitational at Ragan-Brown Field House on Friday.

The victory margin (33) and point total (93) were the second largest this season for the Pacers, who evened their record at 5-5 overall. LaGrange entered the contest with a winning record which made the victory even more impressive. The Panthers dropped to 7-5 overall with the loss.

"A great team effort for us today," Pacers Head Coach Claude Williams said. "We were very disciplined defensively and shared the ball well on the offensive end." 

Timothy Pettiford scored 17 points to lead a balanced attack. Rashaun Tomlin added 13 off the bench and Shawn Jones scored 12 points. Michael Dulin contributed 11 points and Beau Bryant finished with 10 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

Twelve players scored for the Pacers, who shot 54 percent from the floor. It was their second highest field goal percentage this season.

Coming off a 17-day holiday break, the Pacers wasted no time putting away the Panthers. They ended the first half on a 28-14 run to build a 21-point halftime lead.

The Pacers continued their torrid shooting in the second half. Tomlin's three-pointer capped a 20-5 spurt to open the half for a 36-point lead (66-30).

Connor Ballou chipped in eight points and Ababacar Thiam scored six points off the bench for the Pacers, who outscored the Panthers 38-27 in bench points. Kameron McCall scored 13 points for LaGrange, which shot 38.6 percent.

The Pacers will take on nationally ranked Guilford for the second time this season on Saturday, Dec. 30. The first meeting against the No. 3 Quakers took place in Raleigh, N.C., on Nov. 29.

"We had a string of great practices since coming back from break and it carried over today," Shields said. "We are excited for a big challenge tomorrow against Guilford!"
