BRIDGEWATER, VA - Timothy Pettiford poured in 23 points on 10 of 13 shooting as William Peace erased a five-point halftime deficit in a 68-62 victory over Eastern Mennonite in the Carlyle Whitelow Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 18. Pettiford scored 17 points in the second half to spark the rally for the Pacers, who trailed 31-26 at the break.
Eastern Mennonite held a slim 45-44 lead midway in the second half before Pettiford went to work, scoring 13 points down the stretch. He reeled off seven straight points to put the Pacers ahead 58-51 with under two minutes left, and his emphatic dunk in the final 24 seconds capped the victory for the Pacers, who led 62-55.
Pettiford led three Pacers in double figures. Michael Dulin finished with 15 points, including seven in the second stanza. Beau Bryant also aided in the rally, scoring eight of his 10 points in the final 20 minutes. The trio combined for 32 second-half points as the Pacers outscored Eastern Mennonite 42-31. The Pacers were on fire after halftime, making 59 percent of their shots.
