Pacers Drop Opener to Panthers

RALEIGH, NC -- The William Peace University Women's Basketball team had their home season opener on Friday, November 10th in Raleigh, NC at the Hermann Athletic Center. The Pacers faced Ferrum, a non-conference team from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). The Pacers competed well against the Panthers -however, they came up short, losing 63-73.

KEY POINTS

  • The Pacers were competing well in the first quarter against the Panthers as they were up 18-14. 

  • However, throughout the second quarter the Panthers took the lead as they scored 22 points, while the Pacers only scored 14 points. The score after the second quarter was Panthers 36 and Pacers 32. 

  • The third quarter proved pivotal, as the Panthers took control over the game, winning the period by 6 to take a 10 point lead into the final frame. 

  • For the fourth quarter both teams tallied 23 points with a final score of the Panthers 73 and Pacers 63.

FOR THE FOES

  • Kayla Cabiness posted 31 points, while DeMeisha Canada followed with 12 points for the Panthers. 

  • Kayla Cabiness and DeMeisha Canada both collected 2 steals against the Pacers. 

  • DeMeisha Canada notched 10 rebounds, while Allyson Cassell notched 8 rebounds on the night.

The Pacers will host Virginia Wesleyan in Raleigh, NC at the Hermann Athletic Center Monday, November 13th for a non-conference game. The Pacers will tip off at 6PM.
