RALEIGH, NC -- William Peace University baseball is set to face-off against N.C. Wesleyan in the first round series of the USA South Conference Tournament. The Pacers and the Battling Bishops will meet in a best of three game series, beginning with two games on Sunday, May 10th and one game on Monday, May 11th. Game one is scheduled to begin at 12 PM.
The Pacers finished the 2021 season with a 20-16 overall record and a 11-7 conference record. The team sits at the top of several categories in the USA South, with Tyshawn Barrett leading the USA South in stolen bases (24). Barrett is also tied for first in RBIs (41), and is second in home runs (8) and batting average (.402).
The Battling Bishops finished the year 29-6 overall and 17-1 in the conference. The team is currently ranked 13th in DIII baseball. Davie Morgan leads the team with 41 RBI, holding a .343 batting average. Derrick Carter leads the Battling Bishops with 71 kills and a 2.84 ERA.
In their last match-up, the Pacers won a high-scoring contest over the Battling Bishops 16-12. Alec Seaton notched 4 RBIs in that game, with Gavin Taylor and Tyshawn Barrett each recording a HR.
