Raleigh, NC -- William Peace University women's basketball will open their season on January 15th as they host Averett University at 6 PM. The Pacers will then travel to Danville, VA as the Cougars host another game on January 17th at 4 PM.

 The Pacers look to build on their impressive 2019-20 season, which saw them go 23-5 overall and 15-1 in the conference, securing the USA South regular season title and receiving the first NCAA tournament bid in school history. 

The Cougars return to play after their own successful 2019-20 campaign where they finished 18-9 overall and 11-5 in the conference. They will look to returners like Camryn Lunsford, who tallied 275 points and 120 rebounds,
 
The Pacers and the Cougars split the 2019-20 season, with WPU taking a 67-58 win on January 12th and Averett coming out on top over WPU 80-68 on February 8th. In the Pacer loss, returner Jaymesha Sanders led the team with 20 points and 7 rebounds, with returner Lauryn Cross tallying 12 points. 

The Pacers have several key returners, such as Cross and Sanders, who led the team last year with 364 points and 317 points, respectively. The team will also look to Sydney Austin, Cierra Baker, Mariah Partin, and Kiera Williams, all who tallied over 100 points each last season.
