Raleigh, NC -- After beginning the season in historic fashion, the William Peace University women's volleyball team looks to continue their undefeated streak as they head on the road to face off against Christopher Newport University. The Pacers (9-0) and the Captains (4-6) will play on Tuesday, September 17th at 7 p.m. The Pacers come into the matchup having lost more than one set in just one match, a 3-2 victory against Guilford College over the weekend.
The Pacers have struggled against CNU in the past, having never defeated the Captains. Their most recent matchup was on September 26th, 2018, where WPU fell 3-0. CNU would go on to win the Capital Athletic Conference tournament that year. Returning players Brienna Laskowski and Mya Parks led the team in kills and points in that match, so the Pacers will look to their leadership in this next matchup.
Parks currently leads the team this season with 115 kills and 126 points, while Abby Benton is just behind her with 82 kills and 100 points. Brittany Carpenter and Sarah Scott have tallied 147 and 131 assists, respectively, while Bergin Gillespie has 160 digs.
For the Captains, Katie Piper leads the team with 90 kills, while Sammy Carroll has notched 294 assists. Mackenzie Wright has 4 solo blocks and 23 block assists.
