Raleigh, NC -- The William Peace University women's basketball team will open their regular season on the road in Ashland, VA on November 9th and 10th in the R-MC Tip-Off Classic. They will face Eastern Mennonite University on the 9th before playing Randolph-Macon College on the 10th.
The Pacers played an exhibition game on October 28th against UNC Charlotte where they fell 103-46.
Jaliyuah Giggetts led the team with 9 points, while
Jaymesha Sanders and
Mikayla Ray each tallied 6 points. In the 2018-19 season,
Khadijah Daniels led the team with 412 points. She ended the year with a 41.6 shooting percentage and 72.5 from the free throw line.
Mikayla Ray also had an impressive season as she was 67.4 from the foul line, tallied a team-best 41 blocks, and recorded 279 rebounds. Coach
Grahm Smith returns for his 2nd year as Head Coach and will be assisted by
Jason Porter and
Nikita Warren.
This will be the Pacers first matchup against Eastern Mennonite University. The Royals were 10-16 last season and completed their season with a loss in the first round of the ODAC Tournament. The Pacers will also face Randolph-Macon for the first time in program history. In the 2018-19 season, the Yellow Jackets finished 18-9 before falling in the ODAC Semifinals.
Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. on November 9th and 3 p.m. on November 10th.
