Raleigh, NC -- The William Peace University baseball team will head to Danville, VA to face Averett University in a 3-game series, beginning on March 29. Game one of the USA South conference match-up will take place at 3:00 p.m. on the Owen-Fulton Field. The Pacers are coming off an 8-3 win over St. Augustine's University, leaving them with a (12-14) overall record.
Speight Wins First Start: Freshman
John Speight picked up his first win of the season against the Falcons, which also marked his first start as he pitched 5 innings while allowing just one run and five hits. He now has an ERA of 1.42 after two appearances.
Anerton and Norris Lead Pacer Offense in Last Win: Mikey Anerton and
Jake Norris generated the Pacer offense in the game against St. Augustine's on March 27th, with Anerton going 2 for 3 at the plate and Norris going 2 for 4 while scoring 3 of the Pacer's 8 runs.
Mikey Anerton is now batting .340 on the season with a .380 slugging percentage.
Scouting Averett University: The Cougars are currently (8-20) overall and (4-7) in the conference after they split a 2-game series with NC Wesleyan. Kyle Vidano leads the team with a .358 batting average and a .425 slugging percentage after 106 appearances at the plate. In their 3-1 win over NC Wesleyan, Ryan Traylor pitched 8 innings, giving up a single run while recording four strikeouts.
